Alcatel Go Flip 4 Review: A Modern Touch to The Classic Flip Phone

Looking for an Alcatel Go Flip 4 review? You’re on the right page. We will walk you through the phone’s features, including the pros and cons of this classic device!

Alcatel Go Flip 4 Review

Alcatel Go Flip 4 was launched in September 2021. The flip phone’s interface is super simple to use. We love that it’s not trying to compete with the modern-day Android or iOS devices because this classic phone surely has its own charm.

Sporting a 2.8-inch screen and Snapdragon processor, Alcatel Go Flip 4 is tough and straight to the point with its features. It is packed with stuff we think is important, like an internet browser, YouTube, and Google Maps. What’s great about the phone is that you can connect it to WiFi – which is a huge plus.

For those who have never used a flip phone, it may take some time to get used to it. However, it won’t take long to navigate for users familiar with a flip device.

This Alcatel Go Flip 4 review will walk you through its design and overall performance to help you decide if the phone is suitable for you.

Design

The Alcatel Go Flip 4 is a compact and lightweight phone with just 133 grams. It fits our hand comfortably, and flipping it using our thumb is fairly easy.

The phone showcases a classic sleek look with its bluish tint color. Typing on its giant buttons won’t let you mistype. It is slightly thicker than its predecessor due to the bigger battery capacity.

However, we noticed that Go Flip 4 has its speaker placed at the back of the phone, which we think is not good position.

Display

Alcatel Go Flip 4 Display

The Alcatel Go Flip 4 has 2.8 inches display with QVGA quality. We don’t expect a high-definition display, but given its tiny screen, we felt it’s bright and clear enough for a traditional phone with 320 x 240 pixels resolution.

Compared to today’s smartphones, it is obvious that the screen is ultra-small, but given the size and the purpose of this phone – we can still accept it.

Camera

As a feature phone, Alcatel Go Flip 4 has a 2MP rear camera. Although we could not see the point, it offers a self-timer option like the smartphone since we won’t likely mount the device to a tripod.

The good news is that we can still zoom in and zoom out the snapshots. We can also record a video using the phone. Another interesting feature is the option to choose a high or low-quality image for the shots.

Storage

Since Alcatel Go Flip 4 is specifically designed for texting and calling, there is no need to have a huge storage, do they? The phone provides 4GB storage with expandable memory up to 32GB – an ideal space for a phone this size.

There won’t be any HD quality images in the gallery, nor Word Docs and other files. Thus, storage is useful for saving our contacts and some of our favorite music.

Performance

Alcatel Go Flip 4 Full Design

As a flip phone, Alcatel Go Flip 4 offers advanced features. The device is running a 1.3GHz Quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 215. This makes the phone navigation smooth. The fact that a Snapdragon processor is integrated into this flip phone is something worth considering.

The small RAM storage pairs perfectly with KaiOS 3, designed for low-memory phones. KaiOS Technologies, which developed this operating system, claimed that it makes the phone works like Android or iOS with similar features such as internet browser, messaging, and an app store.

However, Alcatel Go Flip 4 is a feature phone with some limitations. Thus, it doesn’t remind us anything about an Android phone or iPhone. The device is surprisingly able to play games specifically optimized for flip phones. It’s good to know that we can kill time by playing simple quizzes and trivia.

While doing the Alcatel Go Flip 4 review, we found out that Twitter is the only social media available to download. At the same time, YouTube, Gmail, and Google browser are already installed on the phone. The speaker is quite loud and clear. We can play music or listen to the radio.

Connectivity

The device is equipped with a GPS sensor. We tried to use Google Map but navigating through the map is not as easy as doing it on a touch screen. It may take a little while to find the directions due to the lack of controls like scrolling or panning using our hands.

A modern touch that we noticed is that the Alcatel Go Flip 4 already has a USB Type-C connector and Bluetooth. With the growth of 5G networks, it’s sad that the phone still uses 4G LTE. But knowing that it has WiFi helps make the browsing experience better.

Battery

The Alcatel Go Flip 4 sports a 1,850mAh removable battery. The removable battery is probably the feature we can appreciate in this modern world.

A battery that can be removed is definitely an advantage. Should there be any damage to the battery, we can always find a replacement instead of throwing the phone away.

Another benefit is that when we accidentally drop our phone in the water, we can dry it off by opening the battery cover so it won’t affect other components inside the phone.

TCL Communication claimed that their Go Flip 4 battery can last up to 18 days standby or 12 hours talk time. We believe that the phone battery lasts that long because we might only use it for basic activities and nothing heavy.

Is the Alcatel Go Flip 4 a good phone?

The Alcatel Go Flip 4 is a classic phone for people who do not use social media and just want a basic phone to do their daily tasks. This is the phone worth considering for someone who misses the old flip phone but still wants a slightly-smart device.

We also thought that the phone didn’t have enough tools to make our lives easier. It isn’t smart enough, especially for the next generation of expressive users who constantly want more than just being connected to people.

For only $99, the phone brings back our memories of the past and brings a touch of modernity to it. It’s the best phone for seniors who just need a simple phone to connect with family and friends. Hope this Alcatel Go Flip 4 review can help you decide better!
