Design
The TCL ION V smartphone is built in an average dimension. It is 156.6 x 75.3 x 8.9mm. The phone’s weight is also the same. It’s decent, with 172g in total. The overall measurement is okay and leaves the comfort while we’re holding the device.
From the phone’s front appearance, this TCL ION V smartphone has an outdated look. Some of you might notice they tried using as few bezels as possible on some current smartphones. However, this device still applies the thick bezels at the top and bottom, which does not follow today’s aesthetic.
On the other part of the phone, the back area is quite satisfying regarding the aesthetic. If you look closer, the back design has dotted textures; it gives users extra comfort while holding the device. The dual camera’s placement is nice, with a rectangular camera’s house and a touch of doff colors at the bottom.

Display
The TCL ION V smartphone display is decently satisfying, with a 6-inch screen to accommodate users with a piece of view-through information. The navigating process would be freer if the bezels we’ve mentioned before are getting rid of.
The bezels there give users a more limited space to enjoy the screen. Not only for navigating but while you are operating some apps here that require more screen like playing games or watching videos—the experience is not as enjoyable as we expected.
Nevertheless, the TCL ION V smartphone has decent display screen quality. It’s a 720 x 1440-pixel resolution, meaning an HD+ quality will be delivered to your eyes. Say hello to the detailed output, accurate colors, and balanced brightness.
Camera
Camera-wise, the TCL ION V smartphone is installed with a single rear camera and a single front camera. Yes, they only have one camera at the back, which is below today’s standard.
A single rear camera lets you take beautiful pictures and videos with many interesting features. The best part about these cameras is they are already powered by AI (Artificial Intelligence) Scene Detection to let you take stunning landscape or portrait pictures. Also, there are Light Trace and Stop Motion features.
Meanwhile, for the front camera, the TCL ION V smartphone is equipped with an 8MP camera to capture your best selfie. If you love to do live streaming, this camera is also installed with an LED flash.
Storage
Due to the not-so-great camera’s quality. We are actually not expecting a higher number for its internal storage, though. It turns out that this phone only serves us with a 32GB capacity, definitely a bare minimum for a smartphone nowadays.
You can’t maximize your journey with this size of capacity. Even worse, after all the pre-installed apps and some initials’ system requirements, the internal storage size would decrease to around 18GB. Do you feel enough about this? We don’t think so.
That’s also what the TCL ION V felt about that. That’s why they are generous enough to give you another slot to add more space to the device. A MicroSD card can be installed into your smartphone; the good news is it fits up to 512GB.
Performance
The TCL ION V’s performance is so-so—or we can even say that is very minimal. Maybe it’s because they only offer you an Octa-core MediaTek MT6762V. Suppose you have no idea about the processors’ bible. In that case, this chipset is built specifically for an entry-level smartphone that doesn’t prioritize being an extra-fast device. Yet, it tends to be more reliable for its users.
The chipset above is coupled with 3GB RAM. Seems small, indeed, but little did you know, for an entry-level smartphone like the TCL ION V, the capacity is quite generous. It lets you have more flexibility when it comes to multitasking.
Accessing a couple of apps is effortlessly smooth. We also tried to get through some of our favorite intense apps, and it’s pretty okay! We were having some good games and watching our favorite movies. That’s smooth as well.
Surprisingly, for an entry-level smartphone, the TCL ION V is already supported with the latest Android 13 as the operating system. Android 13 has a lot that it can share with you to enhance the overall user experience.
Android 13 gives you a personal touch regarding the phone’s experience and privacy management. The dynamic capabilities available on Android 12 are still there, but they go more advanced here. The other thing is privacy and security. This Android version provides more secure privacy management to avoid unwanted things.
For a built-in security feature, the TCL ION V smartphone has a face recognition and fingerprint reader to let you secure the device in advance. These are also convenient ways to unlock the device.
Connectivity
The TCL ION V smartphone utilized a 4G LTE connectivity to become its default network connection for calls and the internet. Thanks to the VoLTE feature, you’ll get a crystal clear call quality when you’re calling with this phone. As for the internet, you can experience a decent network connection in most parts of the world.
That is not the only connectivity you will get from the TCL ION V smartphone. Among other things, there is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Wi-Fi becomes an alternative internet connectivity when you have no connections available. Meanwhile, Bluetooth is the wireless connectivity that lets you connect with other devices.
Battery
The last stop we would discuss on the TCL ION V smartphone is the battery. This device only has a 3,000mAh battery capacity to stay on. The capacity is not what we expect, though, even for an entry-level smartphone because, in our opinion, it’s way too low.
We don’t get exact information on how long the battery will last. Still, we don’t want to put our expectations high on this. The battery is also not equipped with fast charging, so it would take some time to get the device’s battery full.
Is the TCL ION V (T607DL) a good phone?
Before we decide whether this TCL ION V smartphone is good. We want to give you clear info about the price first. This device costs $100, which is actually quite affordable for us.
But are the features worth every penny? I don’t think so. The good part of the device is only its advanced security feature that is over the top. But anything else? Not really. So, in this TCL ION V (T607DL) review, there are still a lot of options out there that can be your next considerations.
Pros: affordable, face unlock, fingerprint reader
Cons: low battery capacity, average performance, low camera quality
