Boost Celero 5G sporting a 6.5-inch display and 4GB RAM with expandable storage up to 2TB. Celero 5G also offers a triple rear camera for capturing sharply and a front-facing camera that takes brilliant selfies.

Design

Boost Celero 5G Design
Boost Celero 5G

Boost Celero 5G gives that nice first impression. It has a sleek design with rounded edges and a plastic body with an all-metal feel. It’s big and tall with 167 x 76 x 8.7mm dimensions. And for a heavy phone with 203 grams of weight, it’s surprisingly quiet ergonomic.

The backside of this phone is a blend of gold and silver with a matte finish. Glancing at the camera quickly reminds us of an iPhone with a square array and silver trim.

The smooth surface might easily slide off hands, so getting a phone case could be a great solution for this.

Display

Boost Celero 5G Display

Boost Celero 5G sports a 6.5-inch display with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution. It is nothing but vivid when it comes to viewing content.

A smartphone display might be a personal preference, but who doesn’t like playing games or watching videos on a larger screen? It creates an enjoyable experience.

Thanks to its HD+ resolution, the screen display is bright and clear for indoor usage. However, when brought outdoors in direct sunlight, we found that the display was a little bit dim, so we needed to adjust its brightness for better visibility.

Camera

Rocking 16MP main camera, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth camera – Boost Celero 5G captures images sharply with no grain detected.

When working on the camera for this Boost Celero 5G review, we noticed that there is no lagging when taking pictures. The ultrawide feature is perfect for those who love collecting panoramic sceneries.

Good lighting helps with the quality of the pictures because taking night photography with this phone can be challenging. On the other hand, the 8MP front-facing camera is excellent for selfies. It captures brightly even in dim lighting situations.

Overall, the camera is great but not exceptional. However, it’s still suitable for social media users who love to flaunt their daily activities in pictures.

Storage

Sporting a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space, Boost Celero 5G has no problem handling basic tasks.

A 64GB storage is not spacious, but luckily, it’s expandable. The phone comes with a MicroSD slot that supports up to 2TB capacity – which is a substantial amount of space to store all those files and apps.

Performance

Boost Celero 5G Side View

Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor that powers the device isn’t too powerful. Still, it shows no lagging or heating during video playback. Friendly reminder, Boost Celero 5G is an budget smartphone and shouldn’t be compared with Snapdragon for high-end devices.

Paired with 4GB RAM, playing games that aren’t graphics intensive on this phone offers a decent experience.

For productivity and entertainment on a basic level, we feel that MediaTek is enough. And we appreciate that the device is sporting stock Android 11. What’s nice about unmodified Android 11 is that users can receive updates much quicker since it is the purest Android that does not require any tweaks.

This version of Android offers improvements in various angles, from security to messaging, plus lots of hardware choices. The integrated fingerprint reader is responsive and takes a few seconds to unlock.

The phone, however, comes with bloatware that contains lots of carrier apps you might never use, although you can uninstall them later.

Connectivity

Boost Mobile provides a 5G network for this device as a bundled smartphone. As we know, 5G is the latest cellular network that enables users to download, play and perform tasks faster with reduced latency.

Celero 5G comes with music and video streaming ability and other standard features such as calls, SMS, and MMS using a Nano SIM card. The download speed is decent.

Celero 5G is equipped with standard connectivity features. There is USB type-C and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity. This can be used for speakers, headphones, and other smartphone accessories without the need for cables.

Wi-Fi is also available for connectivity and hotspot. The phone comes with GPS, Nearby Share connectivity, but unfortunately, it has no NFC for payments.

Battery

4,000mAh battery capacity is fine for moderate use. Boost Mobile claimed that the device can last for 45 hours talk-time. We tested the phone for this Boost Celero 5G review, and it lasted up to a day for general use.

But it’s a different story when the phone performs heavy-duty like playing games. Thus, the convenience level may vary from one user to another.

Given the price tag, the phone is equipped with a 15W fast charger but doesn’t expect wireless charging.

Is the Boost Celero 5G a good phone?

All in all, for those who crave decent specs at a reasonable price, Boost Celero 5G can be a solid option. With just $99, it has considerable capabilities and fast performance, although it comes with a less powerful camera.

There’s not much to find regarding software and security regular updates, so we must rely solely on Boost mobile for such news. Nonetheless, this is a no-brainer choice for those looking for an entry-level smartphone with a big screen at a competitive price.

As a bundled phone, Boost offers value-added services such as spam call-blocking and encrypted Wi-Fi with apps like Boost Perks and My Boost already installed in the device.
