A smartphone with decent features is not hard to look for. This TCL 30 XE 5G review can help you discover what it has and offers to its users. Is it worth consideration?
The TCL 30 XE 5G smartphone was launched in March 2022. This phone aims at the entry-level market as their customers. It offers some decent and reliable features that catch anybody’s attention. We believe there is a lot you will see in this review.
This smartphone has many interesting features. Including, a 6.52-inch display, triple rear camera, a 4GB RAM, and 4,500mAh non-removable battery. However, it is packed more than that and don’t forget that every device also has been compromised. Let’s dig it here.
We’re bringing this TCL 30 XE 5G review to provide you with all the information you need. It gives you the whole idea of the smartphone. We advise you to read this review carefully.

|Dimensions||164.1 x 74.9 x 9mm|
|Resolution||1600 x 720|
|CPU||2.2GHz Octa-core, MediaTek Dimensity 700|
|Rear camera||13MP + 2 MP + 2 MP|
|Features||Fingerprint Reader, Facial Recognition, Fast Charging|
If you are looking for a perfect smartphone for everyday use, the TCL 30 XE 5G definitely can be one of the considerations. It has a larger phone size, with 164.1 x 74.9mm in length and width measurements. But, it only weighs 195g. So, it still feels lightweight and perfectly fits in your palm hands.
The TCL 30 XE 5G is arguably constructed-wise. This phone is so comfortable to hold since it’s plastic build material. It comes with a black matte, which somehow looks pretty minimalist and modern at the same time.
The display area gives us simplicity-vibes. It is surrounded by thin bezels and a punch-hole front camera design. On the other hand, the back of the phone has a triple rear camera, a flash and a fingerprint reader that are barely invisible.

The TCL 30 XE 5G comes with a 6.52-inch screen display and a resolution of 1600 x 720. This display specification is more than enough for an entry-level smartphone. Users can still enjoy a crisp and decent quality.
Thanks to its thin bezels that we have already mentioned before, it gives us more room to experience the content closer and more personally. Combining the resolutions and 20:9 aspect ratio gives us a clear and unpixelated phone’s content.
This smartphone is equipped with a Dragontrail Glass for the phone’s display screen protection. This protection is lightweight, scratch-resistant, and very flexible to use. Unfortunately, it isn’t dusted and water-resistant, though.
Triple rear cameras are built on the TCL 30 XE 5G. This feature is standard for most modern smartphones. You will get a 13MP wide camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro camera as the main camera. It is placed vertically on the back along with its LED flash.
The camera resolution is not the best, though. Nevertheless, you can still capture vivid pictures. A depth camera is useful for taking pictures of an object with a blurred background. Meanwhile, a macro camera allows users to take pictures up close. You can also shoot 1080 fps videos with this main camera.
On the other side, the TCL 30 XE 5G comes with an 8MP front-facing camera. This resolution is quite good for selfies and video calls. The front camera comes in a punch-hole design, so it won’t interfere with your phone’s activities.

The TCL 30 XE 5G smartphone supports 64GB of internal storage for users to store their files. We are not really impressed with internal storage size since it’s a bare minimum for today’s smartphones. Unfortunately, users can only enjoy around half of the storage due to its preloaded apps and system junks.
Luckily, users can choose an option to expand their phone’s storage with the help of external storage. You can add external storage up to 512GB. You only need to buy a separate MicroSD card and put them on the slot to do this. With this, you can save more files and download more apps.
The TCL 30 XE 5G phone runs a MediaTek Dimensity 700 as its processor. To be honest, this processor specification is not as powerful as we hope. Again, it is only an entry-level smartphone; we can’t expect more from it. We are quite grateful that the phone doesn’t show any lags or heat during heavy activities.
The processor is combined with 4GB RAM, enough for the TCL 30 XE 5G to keep running. With the size of its RAM, users are allowed to multitask smoothly and easily. The phone has a low chance of crashing when you open many apps at once. So, you don’t need to open and close the apps back and forth.
Now, we will talk about the brain of the TCL 30 XE 5G smartphone. The TCL 30 XE 5G operates on Android 11 as its operating system. Even though Android 11 is so last year, it is still decent enough for this phone.
Android 11 OS offers some improvements in many aspects. It allows us to control the message notification to be more private and categorize the notifications into relevant groups. These improvements definitely will give us better privacy and optimize the look. Besides, the TCL 30 XE 5G uses the TCL user interface rather than Android. In our opinion, the user interface looks attractive, with a clean and simple interface.
The TCL 30 XE 5G has already been provided with many sensors. There are an accelerometer, proximity, gyro, compass, and barometer. Each sensor has a different purpose. For example, the accelerometer and gyro detect the phone’s orientations. The proximity sensor avoids unwanted touches.
We also spotted a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone and face recognition. These two sensors can help users unlock the TCL 30 XE 5G seamlessly without using a password. This feature is convenient since you can have easy access but still make the phone secure.
Just like its name, the TCL 30 XE 5G supports the latest network technology – 5G connectivity. The 5G connectivity enables users to have a faster and more stable internet connection and a crystal-clear call quality. Besides, you can still use 4G connectivity.
If you are not a fan of mobile networks, this smartphone allows you to connect with Wi-Fi. You can even turn your phone into a mobile hotspot and let your friend connect up to 10 devices.
There is another connectivity available in the TCL 30 XE 5G. It has Bluetooth to transfer files or connect with other devices. This phone also offers a USB Type-C and USB On-the-Go (OTG) to transfer data faster and easier.
Unexpectedly, with only a 195g phone weight, the TCL 30 XE 5G contains a 4,500 mAh battery capacity. This battery capacity allows the phone to run for long hours. Judging by this, we agree that the battery size is one of the plus points of the device.
The TCL 30 XE 5G battery can last up to 25 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time. With this, you don’t have to worry that your phone will run out in the middle of the day. However, you still need to maintain and manage the phone’s usage time.
This phone accommodates fast charging. It allows you to charge the battery only up to 2.5 hours before full. It also has TCL Smart Manager to help users extend the battery life.
Is the TCL 30 XE 5G a good phone?
To be honest, we’re really surprised with some features that the TCL 30 XE 5G offers. First of all, we would love to mention the phone’s design. The phone’s size is perfect for us. We can grip it comfortably. Another thing is that we are also satisfied with the 4,500mAh battery capacity, and the 5G connectivity is still a selling point of it.
Let’s talk about the phone’s weaknesses. The camera’s resolution is not making us interested. It is also the same as the phone’s processors. These are the bare minimum, and we think they can do much better than that.
After all, we conclude on this TCL 30 XE 5G review that for $195, this phone is worth considering. It is perfect if you are looking for a 5G smartphone with a large battery and still lightweight for everyday use.
