Design

TCL 20 A 5G Phone

The TCL 20 A 5G makes a nice impression by looking at it. It has a modern touch and feels premium. The design is sleek with curved edges. With 165 x 75 x 8.9mm dimensions, the phone’s screen is wider and makes it more comfortable to experience the device. Surprisingly with a weight of 195g, this smartphone is perfectly gripped in most people’s hands.

On the front, it features a full-screen display with minimum bezels. The main button is featured on the screen; it is a plus point for us. The front-facing camera is placed in the top center with a hole-punch design.

Meanwhile, there is a triple rear camera on the back of the phone with a flash placed in one vertical line. Next to it, there is also a fingerprint sensor available. And on the bottom right, we notice a TCL logo.

Display

TCL 20 A 5G Display

Comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ display screen, the TCL 20 A 5G is perfect to experience the cinema-quality view. Thanks to its size, we can enjoy watching the videos more satisfyingly. Navigating the phone will also feel more spacious.

The 1600 x 720 pixels resolution is pretty decent for a mid-range smartphone. The display screen becomes more vivid, smoother, and rich in colors. The TCL 20 A 5G is equipped with NXTVISION. We can watch the cinematic-vibes videos in sharp details and stunning colors highlights.

This phone gives us the adaptive modes to reduce eye strain and enhance screen quality. It will make users feel more comfortable and improve readability.

Camera

TCL 20 A 5G Camera

A triple rear camera smartphone is the trend today. The TCL 20 A 5G delivers this feature for social-media photograph savvy. The camera is powered with an AI (Artificial Intelligence) 16MP main camera, 5MP wide camera, and 2MP macro camera. In addition, we can also record the video up to 1080p.

We appreciate the AI support on the camera. It can boost photography skills to the next level. There are 3 interesting AI features that you can try. AI Object Eraser to erase the undesirable object in the background, AI Color to make the background monochrome, and AI Sky to enhance the pictures.

Storage

The TCL 20 A 5G smartphone supports 64GB of internal storage. However, this device is already installed with the preloaded apps. Because of this, we can’t access all of the phone’s storage. We only get around 44GB in total. For us, it is acceptable since we can still download and save more apps.

Nevertheless, if you are not satisfied with the size of internal storage, you can expand the storage with a microSD card. It supports up to 512GB capacity. With the big external storage size, you can save more images, videos, audio, and other files. You can also download many apps that you like.

Performance

TCL 20 A 5G Side View

The 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 works on the TCL 20 A 5G as its processor. This chipset is paired with 4GB RAM and Android 11.

This processor combo supports 5G connectivity. It means the phone’s performance will improve, be more responsive, and the power usage will be more efficient. In the end, these features will be great for a heavy-duty phone’s activities.

The RAM is used for storing the temporarily used data apps. The 4GB RAM is enough for running some apps back and forth. With the help of Floating Window mode, this phone can multitask effortlessly without crashing. It’s perfect for users who like to work with multiple apps simultaneously.

Moving on to the Operating System (OS) used in this smartphone. The TCL 20 A 5G operates on Android 11 OS. This Android version allowed us to have better privacy management and leveled up the notifications management to today’s user trends. We can control what we want to share.

The Android 11 lets us control the location info, the app’s sharing info, and the message notifications. We noticed insignificant modifications in this OS, such as smart app suggestions and resizable picture-in-picture windows.

The TCL 20 A 5G has a variety of sensors on it. Included the accelerometer, GPS, proximity, and light e-compass sensors. The accelerometer sensors notice the phone’s orientation and the proximity sensors to avoid accidental touches.

Other recognizable sensors on the device are fingerprint sensors and face recognition. These two sensors allow us to unlock the phone without using a password lock. In our view, it’s way more convenient. Remember to keep your finger clean before using the sensor, so it will be easily detected.

Connectivity

According to its name, the TCL 20 A 5G is already supported by 5G connectivity. However, this phone still provides 4G LTE and 3G connectivity. Like most smartphones, we need to insert the Nano SIM card to activate the connections.

Besides mobile networks, you can choose to connect with a Wi-Fi connection as well. This phone supported Wi-Fi version 5 of it. You can also transform the smartphone into a mobile hotspot to share your data connection with others.

If you want to transfer some files or connect with external devices, you can count on a Bluetooth or USB Type-C cable. Bluetooth can help you transfer files wirelessly. Meanwhile, the USB Type-C will do that using a wire.

Battery

To keep the phone running for hours, the TCL 20 A 5G is supplied with a 4,500mAh battery size. A non-removable battery type will guarantee a long-lasting battery life since it has a low chance of getting damaged.

With this battery capacity, the smartphone can last up to 34 hours max of talk-time and a standby time of up to 624 hours or 26 days. In a normal usage activity, you don’t need to worry about running out the battery throughout the day.

The TCL 20 A 5G supports an 18W fast charging feature, so you don’t need to wait for hours to charge the battery. But don’t expect wireless charging because you won’t find it here.

Is the TCL 20 A 5G a good phone?

The TCL 20 A 5G has a good impression – at least for us. It delivers some functionalities that we may not find on other mid-range smartphones. The elegant and simple design caught our eyes. The 5G connectivity support also can be considerable.

While it has some drawbacks, such as the internal storage that is considered the bare minimum for a smartphone in its class. Also, in our opinion, the phone can work better if it runs on more than 4GB of RAM.

In conclusion, the TCL 20 A 5G review, at the price of $192 for a smartphone with a lot of incredible features and functionalities, this device is a steal. This phone is worth every penny on it. In the end, it is up to you, but we recommend this.
