ANS Artia Review

Nowadays, smartphones have become a primary need in most people’s lives. Not only for scrolling through social media or watching Youtube videos. It’s more than that. People with extra bucks can get whatever smartphone they want and needs. But how about the ones with low incomes?

Thankfully, there is Lifeline Assistance program. This government program is supported by the Federal Universal Service Fund, which subsidizes telephone services for low-income people.

There are many smartphones listed with this program. One of those is the ANS Artia from Assurance Wireless. You can get this phone for free if you’re qualified with the requirements. Beforehand, read this ANS Android Artia phone review and inform yourself about the device.

Design

ANS Artia
ANS Android Artia

The ANS Android Artia phone applies a mainstream look with no special differentiated features. It’s 162mm in width and 9.4mm in height, making it slim but tall dimensionally. It’s also quite lightweight, with 174g in its mass. In conclusion, it’s comfortable enough for daily use.

The design is what we’ve called very ordinary. It just looks the same as many other smartphones. It’s boring for us, though. But for a subsidized smartphone, we’re not gonna ask much for the aesthetic look.

From behind, it also does the same. A rear camera and LED flash are placed vertically at the top center. Below them, there is a fingerprint reader available, too. If you’re noticing, the ANS Artia has a glossy silver color on it. It gives a premium touch.

Display

For the display, the ANS Artia is equipped with a 6.0-inch display screen. A decent size for users experiencing a thorough journey with this phone. Navigating any features will be satisfying since you have ample room to use your fingers.

The ANS Artia has a 720 x 1560 screen resolution or HD+ quality. It’s not close to the AMOLED quality, but it’s still good for daily use. The colors are vibrant and accurate and quite sharp in detail.

This screen comes with a Capacitive Touchscreen, which has excellent sensitivity when users use their fingers. Even with light pressure, the screen will respond well and quickly. Moreover, this type of screen has good durability and cleanliness. It’s completely sealed to prevent the device from any dust and condensation, and also, it’s easy to clean.

Camera

The camera is like a must-have feature on a smartphone. But, a note for you; don’t expect anything extra with the ANS Artia camera. It only consists of a single camera at the back, not two or more, just like any other. We’ve no problem with that, but the megapixels are not very satisfying.

The single camera only has a 5MP resolution, far below the bare minimum – when at least 13MP resolutions are available on an entry-level smartphone. With these megapixels, every beautiful moment won’t do any justice. Even worse, there are no supported features to enhance the quality. Only an LED flash to help you get a better picture in the dark.

The front camera is also not our cup of tea. It only comes with a 2MP resolution. Again, it’s unexpectedly below the standards. So, forget about taking a beautiful selfie with this ANS Artia smartphone because this camera setup only works for more practical purposes.

Storage

The ANS Artia has 32GB of internal storage on its phone. It’s an average size for a subsidized smartphone. Even when the capacity is decreased to nearly half the size, users can still store a lot of files and install as many apps as they want. To freshen the space, clear up the cache regularly.

Nonetheless, another option is to make your ANS Artia storage more spacious. It’s by installing an external card to expand the storage. To do this, you need to buy a MicroSD card up to 256GB separately.

Performance

As for the performance, the ANS Artia smartphone offers a ‘so-so’ speed and stability. Unfortunately, we didn’t know what processor they used under the hood. But one thing we noticed, it gives us a decent experience, especially for daily activities.

The unmentioned processor is coupled with a 2GHz speed rate. Faster enough to jump from one app to another simultaneously. No lags or delays were shown when we used the device. However, when accessing high-demand apps such as 3D games, you must pay extra attention. It’s not provided quite well.

RAM has become a vital point for phone traffic. Since RAM stores all of the smartphone’s temporary data, the bigger it is, the better. The ANS Artia gives us a generous RAM capacity. It’s 3GB, a standard, even for an entry-level smartphone.

With this capacity, users can have a smooth experience with lightweight apps. But just like we’ve mentioned above, this phone doesn’t fully support heavy apps. Once you’ve accessed it, the device will start heating, and you must avoid this from happening.

Being a subsidized smartphone doesn’t stop you from getting an updated operating system. Impressively, the ANS Artia comes with Android 12 as its operating system. It’s just one version below the latest Android 13, but overall, it still has fascinating improvements.

In the ANS Artia smartphone, there are many default sensors available. Including the Accelerometer, Barometer, Proximity Sensor, and Light Sensor. Each of them has a different purpose. For example, the Accelerometer can detect user movements, and the Proximity sensor can protect the device from unwanted touches.

For the security sensor, this phone has one and only a fingerprint reader. It’s embedded at the back of the phone to allow an easy lock-in for its users.

Connectivity

Relying on a 4G LTE network, the ANS Artia has fast and stable connectivity for calling, messaging, or the internet. It’s a dependable network since 4G LTE is available in most areas worldwide. Besides saving the data and battery, you can also use Wi-Fi connectivity as an alternative.

What features can be used for transferring any files to others? It’s a Bluetooth and USB Type-C. Both have the same purpose but in different ways. Bluetooth can transfer files wirelessly to other devices. At the same time, the USB-Type C is a wired-transfer way to a computer only.

Battery

The 3,000mAh non-removable battery is responsible for powering the ANS Artia smartphone. It’s quite small for today’s smartphone. But, it’s expectedly to last all day long in a not-so-hectic activity.

It’s advantageous to have a non-removable battery type since it becomes more durable than the other type. But this must be accompanied by a gentle treatment to maintain a safe operation. Be cautious – not only when you’re using the device but also when you’re charging it.

Verdict

As a subsidized smartphone, surprisingly, the ANS Android Artia smartphone meets the current smartphone’s standard. We checklist some incredible features of this phone, such as the Android 12, decent RAM, and spacious internal storage.

However, as a no-cost smartphone, you might also find some weaknesses. These include the unsatisfied camera setup and a low battery capacity. After all, if the device is only used for daily life, this condition is still acceptable, though.

ANS Artia Pros:

  • Android 12
  • Decent RAM and ROM

ANS Artia Cons:

  • Low camera quality
  • Low battery capacity
